【摘要】:Forferromagneticmaterials,magneticparticleexaminationiswidelyspecifiedforthedetectionofsurfaceandnearsurfacediscontinuitiessuchascracks,laps,seams,andlinearlyorientednonmetallicinclusions.SuchexaminationsareincludedasmandatoryrequirementsinsomeforgingstandardssuchasSpecificationA508/A508M.Useofdirectcurrentorrectifiedalternating(fullorhalfwave)currentasthepowersourceformagneticparticleexaminationallowsdetectionofsubsurfacediscontinuities.1.1Thispracticecoversaprocedureformagneticparticleexaminationofsteelforgings.Theprocedurewillproduceconsistentresultsuponwhichacceptancestandardscanbebased.Thisstandarddoesnotcontainacceptancestandardsorrecommendedqualitylevels.1.2Onlydirectcurrentorrectifiedalternating(fullorhalfwave)currentshallbeusedastheelectricpowersourceforanyofthemagnetizingmethods.Alternatingcurrentisnotpermittedbecauseitscapabilitytodetectsubsurfacediscontinuitiesisverylimitedandthereforeunsuitable.1.2.1Portablebatterypoweredelectromagneticyokesareoutsidethescopeofthispractice.Note18212;GuideE709maybeutilizedformagneticparticleexaminationinthefieldformachinerycomponentsoriginallymanufacturedfromsteelforgings.1.3TheminimumrequirementsformagneticparticleexaminationshallconformtopracticestandardsofPracticeE1444.IftherequirementsofthispracticeareinconflictwiththerequirementsofPracticeE1444,therequirementsofthispracticeshallprevail.1.4Thisspecificationandtheapplicablematerialspecificationsareexpressedinbothinch-poundunitsandSIunits.However,unlesstheorderspecifiestheapplicablex201C;Mx201D;specificationdesignation[SIunits],thematerialshallbefurnishedtoinch-poundunits.1.5ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
